White House To Host Crypto, Prediction Market Executives Next Week: Politico

14 August 2026 - 19:39 UTC

(Update, 19 Aug 09:10UTC: A White House official has since told Politico that prediction market companies will not take part in the event. "Prediction market companies will not be a part of the event," said the official, who was granted anonymity. Crypto executives will still attend, the official said, and President Donald Trump will host technology leaders to strengthen US innovation.)

The White House is expected to host executives from the cryptocurrency and prediction-market industries on 19 Aug, Politico reported, citing three people familiar with the unannounced plans.

The details remain in flux, including who will attend and whether President Donald Trump will take part. Executives from traditional finance may also join the gathering, according to the report. The White House did not respond to a request for comment from Sandmark.

The meeting is scheduled a day before the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission convenes its new Innovation Advisory Committee, which includes executives from crypto, prediction markets, gambling and traditional finance.

The gatherings come as both industries draw increasing attention in Washington. The CFTC has recently become more involved in disputes over prediction markets, while the crypto industry's main legislative priority, the CLARITY Act, remains pending in the Senate.

Lawmakers are expected to return to the market-structure bill after the August recess, with consideration currently pushed into September.
